Our new partners 2025

As part of our further international growth, we at Horváth have expanded our management team with three new partners as of the new fiscal year: Patrick Heurich, Peter Sattler and Dennis Schmidt. What motivated them to pursue this path? And what are they most looking forward to in their new roles? We asked them exactely these and two other questions.

Patrick Heurich

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE PARTNERSHIP! WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO PURSUE THIS PATH?
Thank you very much! It is a huge honor for me to finally be part of our partnership. My motivation stems from a deep passion for driving meaningful change within organizations. I have always been fascinated by the dynamics of restructuring and transformation, and I believe that these topics are crucial for the sustainable success of any organization. As a partner at Horváth, I can use my expertise and experience to help clients overcome complex challenges and achieve their strategic goals.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO IN YOUR NEW ROLE?
One of the greatest NFL players, Peyton Manning, once said: “The most valuable player is the one who makes the most players valuable.” As a home-grown Horváth who started out as an intern, I want to support our talents in following the same path as I did.

Additionally, I am eager to contribute to the growth and innovation of our company and ensure that we continue to deliver exceptional results for our clients – especially in a complex environment where many of our core industries are facing major and, in some cases, existential threats. I look forward to supporting our clients in overcoming these challenges and leading them back to success.

WORK-LIFE BALANCE: WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO MOST IN YOUR FREE TIME?
Maintaining a healthy work-life balance is important to me. In my free time, I enjoy activities that help me unwind and recharge. I love spending time with my wife and our two boys, exploring the outdoors by bike, skiing and practicing many water sports such as wake boarding and diving. Apart from that I love to spend time in the ring – boxing. These activities not only help me to reset but also inspire me to be creative and to bring new perspectives to my professional work.

WHAT TIPS WOULD YOU GIVE TO NEW COLLEAGUES?
Be curious and open-minded. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and never hesitate to ask questions or seek advice. Building strong relationships and collaborating effectively with your team is key to success. Additionally, always strive for excellence and show initiative in your professional development. Remember that continuous learning and adaptability are essential in our ever-evolving industry. But most importantly, enjoy what you do, then everything else comes with ease!

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE PARTNERSHIP! WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO PURSUE THIS PATH?
Thank you very much! What has always motivated me is creating meaningful impact for our clients – not only in terms of business success, but also when it comes to sustainability and long-term transformation. At Horváth, I’ve had the chance to work on future-oriented strategies, steering models and resilient organizations – and to do so in strong, collaborative teams. These experiences made it clear to me that I wanted to take the next step and play an even more active role in shaping this journey.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO IN YOUR NEW ROLE?
This new role allows me to contribute in a different way – with a broader perspective and new responsibilities. Our society and our clients are facing complex challenges, and I see the role of a partner as an opportunity to help them navigate these times and develop practical solutions together. What I value most is working with great people – solving problems, sharing ideas, and making real progress as a team.

WORK-LIFE BALANCE: WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO MOST IN YOUR FREE TIME?
My undisputed priority is spending time with my family – my wife and our two great, rebellious kids. I also grow 12 different types of chili peppers in our garden near Vienna – from fruity types to the extremely spicy ghost chili. So, if you ever come by, prepare yourself for a good dose of spiciness!

WHAT TIPS WOULD YOU GIVE TO NEW COLLEAGUES?
First, focus on doing great work, whatever the challenge. Second, be curious: explore different types of assignments, industries, and countries. Each new context will sharpen your perspective as a consultant. At Horváth, you’ll be given the trust and support to develop in your own way – take the chance. And always remember: enjoy the ride!

Dennis Schmidt

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE PARTNERSHIP! WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO PURSUE THIS PATH?
In our industry, you need a strong drive for success and a clear attitude towards your work – becoming an equity partner is the highest achievement of that mindset. But beyond personal ambition, I was motivated by the opportunity to take a leading role in shaping our company’s future to preserve the culture we inherited from Péter Horváth and guide the team into the next generation of leading minds in controlling and beyond.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO IN YOUR NEW ROLE?
Two things: Externally, I’m looking forward to representing the company more visibly, increasing our impact, and forging strategic partnerships. Internally, I’m excited to join our partner committees – to challenge existing structures and to actively shape the development of our company in the coming years.

WORK-LIFE BALANCE: WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO MOST IN YOUR FREE TIME?
Honestly, with a wonderful wife and a two-year-old son – and given how much we consultants travel for work – my main focus is spending time with them in the mornings, evenings, and weekends. We love traveling, especially in the US, since my wife’s family is American. We’re also into food and sports. A personal highlight: my son is already a little petrolhead like me – we watch every Formula 1 Grand Prix together. So far without my wife, but we’re working on it.

WHAT TIPS WOULD YOU GIVE TO NEW COLLEAGUES?
Roughly five years after joining Horváth, I became a partner – without prior consulting experience, but with functional know-how and the right mindset. Horváth has a family-like culture that encourages everyone to shape their own path to personal and professional success. My advice: every profile adds value to our company and our clients. Be yourself. Be honest. Find your individual sweet spot.
