AURELIUS Group

Support in the transformation of the Hallo Healthcare Group as part of an exit strategy

The challenges

The Hallo Healthcare Group operates in four business divisions: Retail, Digital, Homecare and Wholesale. The company employs more than 18,000 people, including pharmacists, nurses, logistics staff and warehouse and administrative staff. The company had grown historically with different business models, a complex overhead organization and a non-transparent data and system landscape. The acquisition of the UK subsidiary from a US healthcare company was the largest transaction in the history of AURELIUS, an international investor. Horváth successfully supported this complex transformation.

Our approach

In the first phase, transparency was created regarding the company's financial and operational performance and management reporting solutions were developed in order to make data-based decisions. Subsequently, internal processes and key figures were analyzed in comparison to the market in order to define short and medium-term areas of action to improve results together with the portfolio company's management team and investors.

The solution

Thanks to this multi-stage approach, targeted operational efficiency improvements were identified, in particular the overhead areas along the new independent divisions were restructured. In addition, the exit of the first division with over 1,000 pharmacies was successfully supported by appropriate BI tools, including P&L Cockpit and Divestment Store Tracker.

In a very short time, Horváth was able to develop initial ideas for creating value for the Hallo Healthcare Group. The consistently supportive, pragmatic and trusting collaboration of the Horváth experts was a key success factor for us in this complex transformation.
